Symptoms and what they can mean

Evening aches in both legs in a well child who runs around by morning can be benign. One-sided pain, limp, fever, or pain that wakes them every night is not a shrug.

What we can do in clinic

I treat children when the picture is mechanical and they have been appropriately screened. A parent stays in the room. I would rather over-refer than miss inflammatory or malignant disease.

Red flags and when to see your GP

Any limp, refusal to weight-bear, or systemic symptoms — GP or A&E first. Always.
