Counselling

Burnout and counselling

Jamie Blackall on the exhaustion that rest does not touch — talking therapy for people who have been “fine” too long.

What this can look like

Cynicism you do not recognise. Sleep that does not restore. A job you used to care about. Weekends that are recovery, not life.

How counselling can help

Burnout is often a mix of load, values and a nervous system that has had no off-switch. Counselling is a place to tell the truth without a performance review. I work with adults, in person or online, with a free introductory call first. Fees on request.

When it is more than counselling

If you cannot get out of bed, or you are not safe, that is GP and crisis care. I will not call burnout a badge.

This article is general information for people considering care at Health at Hart in Hartley Wintney. It is not a diagnosis, a prescription, or a promise of outcome. If you have sudden, severe or unexplained symptoms — including chest pain, unexplained weight loss, night pain, bowel or bladder changes, or a new neurological problem — seek urgent medical advice (NHS 111 or 999). UK osteopaths are regulated by the General Osteopathic Council. Counsellors named here are BACP-registered where stated. Always check with your GP or insurer if you are unsure whether a treatment is appropriate for you.
