Counselling

Counselling and physical pain

When the body hurts and the story is heavier than the scan — Jamie Blackall on talking beside osteopathy and physio.

What this can look like

Pain that has outlived the injury. Fear of movement. A life organised around not flaring. Frustration with people who say it is “just stress”.

How counselling can help

I will not tell you the pain is imaginary. Pain and mood keep company. Steve, Deborah and Kyla work with the body in this building; counselling works with the meaning, the fear and the shrinking world. We do not compete.

When it is more than counselling

New neurological symptoms, unexplained weight loss, or night pain that is not your usual — medical. Therapy is an adjunct.

This article is general information for people considering care at Health at Hart in Hartley Wintney. It is not a diagnosis, a prescription, or a promise of outcome. If you have sudden, severe or unexplained symptoms — including chest pain, unexplained weight loss, night pain, bowel or bladder changes, or a new neurological problem — seek urgent medical advice (NHS 111 or 999). UK osteopaths are regulated by the General Osteopathic Council. Counsellors named here are BACP-registered where stated. Always check with your GP or insurer if you are unsure whether a treatment is appropriate for you.
