You coped at the time. Months later a song, a smell, or a quiet house knocks you over. People have stopped checking in. You feel fraudulent.
Grief has no polite timetable. We make room for it without requiring you to “move on” for other people’s comfort. Katie in this clinic also writes about loss — you choose the person whose way of talking fits.
